NWN Characters Cleaner (GPL)

Neverwinter Nights has a tendency to create multiple copies of the same character. Just playing one sessions could create a number of character copies. And it a persistent world server auto-exports your characters, you can end up with thirty copies in one night.

This NWN Characters Cleaner batch file will clean up your characters for you. After running "NWN Characters Cleaner.bat", you will only have one copy of each character in your NWN localvault directory.

"NWN Characters Cleaner.bat" takes advantage of the following batch file, which is also available on this site. So to use the this batch file, you will need to download the following batch file if you don't already have it.

"NWN Characters Cleaner.bat" is distributed as executable source code under the GNU General Public License. Please see the license agreement elsewhere on this site.

Usage

  NWN Characters Cleaner.bat
    or
  NWN Characters Cleaner.bat "path to NWN localvault"

How It Works

The way NWN Characters Cleaner works is that it finds the character copy with the highest number tag, and makes that copy the only character copy in the localvault directory. NWN Characters Cleaner will fail if there are broken segments of character numbering. But that will only happen if you manually delete character copies. If you use NWN Characters Cleaner, you will never see that situation.

I have made a slight change to "NWN Characters Cleaner" and repackaged it in a ZIP file with all the necessary modules. You can now download the zip file and install it easily. The new version is located here: NWN Characters Cleaner

I'm also planning to release a version for Neverwinter Nights 2 in the future.
