Sort Files Into Date Buckets (GPL)
On my recent trip to San Francisco, I shot a lot of photos on various dates. I like to sort my photos chronologically. But when I copied the photos off the SDHC Card, Mac OS X automatically change the date of each file to the time of the copy. Without the date I shot the photos, I couldn't sort the photos into chronological photos. Therefore, I wrote this shell script to sort the files into individually dated folders before coping the files off the memory cards.
To use it, just execute this script in the directory that contains files you want to sort. The dated folder(s) will be created in the same directory and all of the files in the directories will be moved into the dated folder(s).
Originally this script is intended to be an AppleScript. But I am much more fluent in writing Bourne Shell scripts than AppleScripts. So the AppleScript version will have to wait for another day.
"SortFilesIntoDateBuckets.sh" takes advantage of the following scripts, which are also available on this site. So to use the this script, you will need to download these other scripts if you don't already have them.
"SortFilesIntoDateBuckets.sh" is distributed as executable source code under the GNU General Public License. Please see the license agreement elsewhere on this site.
