SubString (Freeware)

SubString is a command-line Java software that will return a sub-string from a string that you specify. Because SubString is written as a command-line utility, it can be used in custom batch files and custom scripts.

SubString is written in Java, so it will run on any Java-supported operating system. SubString is distributed as Freeware. Please see the "Freeware License Agreement" elsewhere on this site.

Usage

Usage: java SubString "string" "begin index" [ "end index" ]

begin index - inclusive
end index - exclusive

Examples

> java SubString "hello world" 6
world

> java SubString "hello world" 0 5
hello
