Starting the Adventure
One day, a loud knock wakes the player character(s) (PC) up from the
slumber. The PC opens the door and finds a subtle and quiet gentlemen in
his fifties. The gentleman hand a letter to the PC. The letter comes
from Lord Chester Quene, PC's uncle (see character profile). Let the PC
know that Uncle Chester has been the king's adviser for many years.
Dear Nephew,
As you know, our kingdom has been silenced for the past ten years.
The Gensu plant is once again going to blossom a month from now. We are
all very excited that we will be able to speak verbally once again. The
king has sent General Claypassion the Tracker and a small army to
retrieve the Gensu seeds. However, I have learned that the general has
plotted to overthrow the kingdom with the help of the seeds. Our kingdom
is in danger, so now I need your help.
I have not notified anyone else the content of this letter. At this
moment, I do not know who is still loyal to our beloved king, this
wonderful kingdom, and you. And at this time, I do not know who is
disloyal to us all.
Go at once to the mountain top of June Mountain, at least, one day
before its prime and wait for its blossom. When it does, collect all of
its seeds and bring the Gensu seeds back to me. Bring it to me
discreetly so that the king's Magician Council can dispel the silence
spell that was cast upon our land. You will encounter many foes in your
pass. But I now you and your friends are excellent adventurers. I
entrust this urgent task into your hands. Good Luck.
Love,
Chester Quene
After the PC reads the letter, the stranger hands over a note that
he wrote himself (the kingdom is under the silent spell):
"My name is Hagen Ash. Lord Chester Quene has
asked me to deliver his letter to you. He has also asked me to accompany
you on this journey and to assist you in any way possible."
The PC's can bring Hagen (see character profile) on this quest, or
they can role-play out of the necessity to involve Hagen. If the PC's
ditches Hagen, then Hagen will secretly track and follow the PC's up to
the June mountain top.
Before the PC's leave on this quest, they have several weeks to
prepare for the trip. They can use the time to buy equipment, learn more
about the background, or other preparations. After the party prepares,
fast forward to start the journey.
